Am I On Track to Graduate?

Once you've registered for classes, review My Progress for each active major/degree in your Self-Service account to see if you are on track to graduate. You will know you are on track to graduate when all major/degree requirements are marked as completed, in-progress, and/or registered (not planned).

My Program/Major is Not listed in Self-Service > My Progress

If you are currently enrolled in classes toward the missing major/degree

Schedule an appointment with your Academic/College Success Advisor to have the major/degree added to your record.

If you are a new or returning student finishing program requirements

Complete an Admissions Application to have the major/degree added to your record.

If you were previously pursuing a major/degree that is not in your list of active major(s)/degree(s)

Contact the Records Specialist to have your major/degree reactivated.

I Have Taken / Am Taking Courses That Are Not Marked in Self-Service > My Progress to Put Me on Track to Graduate

I took the missing degree requirement courses at another college/university

Please send your official college transcript(s) for transfer credit review. See Transferring Credits to Hawkeye.

If you are on track to graduate after your transcript(s) has been evaluated and your transfer course(s) has been added to your record, you will receive an invitation to apply for graduation via your Hawkeye email.

I am enrolled at another college/university and have taken course(s) that will complete my degree requirements at Hawkeye

I have a course substitution, course waiver, catalog year change, and/or certification/licensure that will fulfill my major/degree requirements that is not showing in Self-Service > My Progress

Visit with your advisor if you previously discussed a course substitution, course waiver, catalog year change, and/or have a certification/licensure that will fulfill degree requirements and do not see it reflected in Self-Service > My Progress.

Invitation to Apply for Graduation

Students that have registered for their last semester of classes and are on track to graduate will receive an invitation to apply for graduation to their Hawkeye email address with the subject line, "Invitation to Apply for [Term ’Yr] Graduation – DEADLINE is [date]".

You should receive your invitation to apply for graduation email approximately two – three weeks after registering for your final classes. If you have not received an invitation to apply for graduation email, feel you should have, and it's been three weeks since you registered for classes, please see your Academic/College Success Advisor.

Graduation Application Deadline

Fall 2024 graduate: November 29, 2024, by 4:30pm

Spring 2025 graduate: February 17, 2025, by 4:30pm

Graduation Application Status

You will receive an email to your Hawkeye email notifying you of the status of your graduation application within 30 days of submitting the application. Please watch for an email with the subject line, "Graduation Application Status".

Why Do I Need To Apply for Graduation?

Applying for graduation is an important step to completing your education at Hawkeye. Submitting a graduation application will:

  1. Initiate the review of your major/degree requirements and aid in the completion of your record to show you have officially completed a certificate, diploma, or degree.
  2. Provide the following information:
    • The name you wish to be printed on your diploma and in the Commencement Ceremony program.
    • The mailing address of where to send your printed diploma.
    • Your hometown information so we can contact your local newspaper to announce your graduation.
  3. Allow you to participate in the Commencement Ceremony in May.
  4. Help Hawkeye track the success of its programs and graduates.
