Students of all skill levels, beginner to advanced, can take our music lessons. We offer two levels of music lessons. Level I lessons are 30 minutes and you earn one credit. Level II lessons are 60 minutes, two credits, and require more practice time between lessons.

Dr. Nahyun Kim

Dr. Nahyun Kim is an instrumental music instructor, performer, and composer. She has extensive teaching experience in a variety of areas, including:

  • the music theory sequence, especially 20th century/contemporary
  • musicianship
  • music history
  • song writing
  • composition,
  • piano/keyboard skills

Dr. Stewart Cramer

Dr. Stewart Cramer, is our vocal music instructor. He has nearly two decades of music and voice experience. He's earned his doctorate in vocal performance and opera directing. Has a Master of Music in vocal performance. And has earned his Bachelor of Music in vocal performance.

Ryan Pearson

Ryan Pearson is a guitarist. He teaches in a wide variety of styles from classical and jazz, to modern rock and blues. One of Ryan's main interests is the overlap between music education, performance, and audio technology.

John Chiles

John Chiles is a violist and our upper strings music instructor. He plays with professional orchestras across the state of Iowa including the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony Orchestra.
