Membership

Recreational use of the Health Education and Services Center facility is limited to approved members.

All persons wishing to utilize the Health Education and Services Center are required to possess and present a current Hawkeye ID each time they use the facility.

Persons will be granted member status if they are 18 years of age or older, possess a current Hawkeye ID, and sign a Health Education and Services Center Waiver and Release of Liability Form.

Verification of status may take up to 48 hours after applying to use the Health Education and Services Center.

When Hawkeye is closed, the Health Education and Services Center is closed to all members. Health Education and Services Center, for recreational purposes, will follow Hawkeye's open and closure policies.

Members

Hawkeye student: Currently enrolled at Hawkeye in at least one academic credit hour, pay activity fees, and be in good standings as defined in the Hawkeye Student Handbook.

Hawkeye faculty: Current full-time or adjunct instructor for applied science or arts and science credit courses at Hawkeye.

Hawkeye staff: Full or part-time employee as defined by Hawkeye.

Police Academy students can purchase a one-time use card for $10 to use the Health Education and Services Center only during the current academy session.

Retirees can purchase a one-time use card for $10. Retiree status to be determined and authorized by the Human Resources Department.

Sponsored Adult

A qualified Hawkeye employee or retiree with privileges to the Health Education and Services Center can sponsor one adult to become a fee-paying member of the Health Education and Services Center. The sponsored adult must reside in the same household as the sponsoring member, and must be 18 years old or older.

Sponsored Adults are required to show proof of same address as the sponsoring Hawkeye employee. The sponsored adult must show one of the following documents to the Health Education and Services Center front desk staff:

  • Driver’s license or passport
  • Passport
  • Piece of mail with address. Must be postmarked within four weeks of the current date. Must be official mail, ie. a current bill. Hand addressed, personal mail, or advertisements are not valid.

All Sponsored Adults will receive a member ID upon verification of address, full payment of fees, receipt of a copy of these policies, and signing of the Health Education and Services Center Waiver and Release of Liability Form.

Sponsored Adult Membership Rates

  • 3 months: $54
  • 6 months: $90
  • 12 months: $144

The membership fee must be paid in full before a sponsored adult member ID will be issued. Payment must be made with cash or check.

Sponsored adults pay the same fees for group fitness classes and personal training sessions as Hawkeye employees.

Revoked Membership

If the Hawkeye employee is no longer employed at Hawkeye or has his or her Health Education and Services Center membership revoked for any reason, the sponsored adult's membership is automatically cancelled and all membership fees will not be refunded.

If the sponsored adult has his or her Health Education and Services Center membership revoked for any reason, it automatically cancels the membership of the Hawkeye employee and all membership fees will not be refunded.
