All students and visitors to campus are required to wear a mask. If you do not have a mask, one will be provided to you at the Library's north entrance.

Checking Out or Returning Laptops, Wi-Fi Hotspots, and Library Books

Laptops and Wi-Fi Hotspots

A limited number of laptops and Wi-Fi hotspots are available for check out. The library is now open from 8:00am–4:30pm Monday–Friday so you may check out or return devices during these hours.

Returning Library Books

Due dates for all books that were checked out during the Spring 2020 semester have been extended till August 24, 2020, the first day of classes for the Fall 2020 semester.

If you wish to return library books, please put them in the book drop located at the Library's north entrance. Look for the large sign on the right side of the building for the book drop's location.


For students who live in Iowa, return your Hawkeye Library books to any of your local public libraries in your community or a college or university library (UNI, Wartburg, University of Iowa, Iowa State University, etc.) and the other library will return the items to us. See book drop off locations.

Daily overdue fines are not charged for library books; however, if you never return the items you have checked out you will eventually be billed for the items.

  • Access online journals and e-books via the "Library Resources" link in your Canvas courses.

Printing: All print jobs from student computers may be picked up at the Library's circulation desk. This change has been made to help enforce social distancing.

If you are off-campus, printing may be done at Copyworks in Cedar Falls, 2227 College St., 319-266-2306 or at Staples in Waterloo, 1542 Flammang Dr, 319-232-3700. Call ahead to verify hours.

Potential Wi-Fi Access at Area Public Libraries

The Iowa Library Association has announced that some public libraries may be allowing their Wi-Fi signals to be accessed in their parking lots. There is no guarantee that access will be available, but contact your local public libraries to inquire.

Single-Sign On Is Here

The Library is implementing single-sign on authentication for our library resources in January. Login once with your Hawkeye username and password and you should be logged into all library resources. This will allow you to save articles to your EBSCO, ProQuest and Gale accounts, etc. and access content quicker and easier.

Faculty members, you will need to update a few embed codes for streaming videos and permalinks to e-books or journal articles that you might have posted in Canvas, but the library staff can help if needed.
