REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Admissions

JOB SUMMARY:

This position assists with daily functions associated with the efforts of the Recruitment and Admissions office.  Specifically, as it relates to the coordination and processing surrounding applications for admission.  Provides accurate information to prospective students, current students, parents, and the general public about Hawkeye Community College’s degrees, program admission requirements, and admission processes.  Assists in daily communication, phone, email, walk-in, and scheduling requests.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Responsibilities & duties may include, but are not limited to, the following

  • Assists in the coordination, review and processing of applications for admissions. 
  • Updates student record information appropriately in Recruit and Colleague (student information systems).
  • Creates and updates admission files in accordance to student needs and requests.
  • Utilizes student records and reports to enter data in order to complete various tasks and job duties.
  • Provides accurate information to prospective and current students, parents, and the general public on Hawkeye Community College’s programs, degrees, application processes, financial aid information, and student referrals.
  • Manages and responds appropriately, and timely to incoming phone, email, and walk-in inquiries.
  • Assists with recruitment activities and conducts individual appointments.
  • Supports Recruitment and Admissions staff as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Works evenings and weekends as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree in public relations, marketing, communications, social sciences, business, or education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and utilize critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and provide customer service for diverse populations (faculty, staff, students, and general public).
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and to work independently.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional follow through and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurable..

PREFERENCES:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Community College education and/or work experience.
  • Experience with Ellucian Colleague or other Student Records Management/CRM systems).
  • Experience working with secondary/postsecondary faculty, staff, and students.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:

Part-time position averaging 20 to 24 hours per week with a wage of $16.34 per hour. Anticipated hours are between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and occasional evenings and weekend hours

Working conditions: Requires skills for succeeding in an office environment, using technology. Requires good hand-eye coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.

Work is performed in an office setting. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours.  During the course of the day, interact with students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computers.
