JOB SUMMARY:

This position drives a 15-passenger van with Senior Companion volunteers in a safe manner, provides courteous service, safe driving skills, and assists riders. Fills up the van with gas and keeps the vehicle clean.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Drives 15 passenger van on scheduled route in the Black Hawk County area.
  • Picks up senior companions from their homes and takes them to their scheduled destinations.
  • Transports volunteers to/from their scheduled destinations.
  • Provides courteous services, assisting volunteers when necessary.
  • Provides a daily log of mileage.
  • Fills up the van with gas, keeps van clean inside and out, obtains and turns in receipts for gas purchases and van washing, alerts program manager of any needed repairs or problems with the van.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license (D3 chauffeur’s license).
  • Good driving record.
  • Must be insurable (automobile).
  • Must pass criminal record check.
  • Ability to drive 15 passenger van.
  • Must be reliable, prompt, and courteous.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Ability to provide courteous and safe transportation service.
  • Ability to work with and provide customer service for diverse populations (volunteers, elderly clients, staff, and general public).
  • Ability to assist riders if necessary.
  • Administrative writing skills, reporting skills, scheduling, Microsoft Office skills, organization, time management, office equipment maintenance, travel logistics, and verbal communication skills.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:

Part-time federally funded grant position with a wage of $9.57 per hour averaging 6 to 10 hours per week.  Anticipated hours will be two per day between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., five days per week (Monday through Friday).
