JOB SUMMARY:

This position is located at the Student Tutoring and Computer Lab (STC) and is responsible for providing student support, excellent customer service and protects operational integrity by keeping information confidential. Stays updated with campus technology and troubleshoots/reports hardware and software problems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Assists students with software questions to complete assignments.
  • Presents STC computer lab orientations.
  • Assists students with internet research and on-line course procedures.
  • Helps students access Hawkeye e-mail and online services.
  • Enforces college policies on network, computer, and internet use.
  • Assists students with adaptive technology equipment and software.
  • Assists students with computer/printer questions in the lab and with connection of devices to mobile network.
  • Notes and records problems with hardware and software and reports them to the STC Lab Coordinator.
  • Keeps knowledge of computer applications and operations current.
  • Responsible for maintaining the printers and computer lab areas including filling paper, changing toner, and cleaning areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s degree in computers, education, business, office specialist, or closely related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint software.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and software application.
  • Ability to troubleshoot common computer software problems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team atmosphere.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a cooperative, contributive manner.
  • Ability to work on multiple tasks and to work independently.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written directions.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Ability to establish and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with and provide customer service for diverse populations (staff, students, and general public).
  • Project a positive professional image.
  • Administrative writing skills, reporting skills, scheduling, Microsoft Office/Google applications skills, organization, time management, office equipment maintenance, and verbal communication skills.

PREFERENCES:

  • Microsoft Office Certified.
  • Knowledge of learning management systems including Canvas.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:

Part-time position averaging 15 to 20 hours per week.  Anticipated hours will be 3 to 4 hours per day during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
