At Hawkeye, we make it easy to reach your commercial driving goals—all in one place! We're your one-stop shop for earning your Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP), Commercial Driver's License (CDL), and CDL endorsements.

As an approved Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) provider, we can give you everything you need—from the DOT knowledge tests to the driving skills tests and on-road evaluations—all in one convenient location.

If you've had a CDL before and want to get it again, we'll check with the DOT to see whether you need ELDT training or if you can go straight to testing. We can also help you upgrade from a CDL B to a CDL A and help lift restrictions to keep you moving forward in your career.

You'll train in our state-of-the-art training facility, built with your success in mind. Featuring a dedicated driving range with open areas, a 26-foot-wide road with inclines and turns, classrooms, drive-through truck bays, and virtual driving simulators.

With everything you need in one place, you'll save time and stay focused on achieving your commercial driving goals.

Choose Your Training, Testing, and Endorsements

Commercial Learner Permit (CLP) Get ready to pass your CLP with help from Hawkeye! You’ll review everything you need for the General Knowledge, Airbrakes, and Combination tests. When you’re prepared, you can schedule your test right here at Hawkeye or at your local DMV.

Class A CDL This skill-based program trains you to safely operate automatic and manual transmission semis with a gross combination weight rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more.

Class B CDL This proficiency-based program trains you to safely operate vehicles with a gross vehicle rating (GVWR) of 26,001 or more pounds such as concrete mixers, snow plows, and garbage trucks.

CDL Refresher Already have a Class A or B CDL and some trucking experience? This CDL Refresher course is built for you!

Return to trucking with our 40-hour CDL Refresher Course. Designed specifically for licensed drivers re-entering the trucking industry, this course offers hands-on, personalized behind-the-wheel training.

Here’s what you’ll work on:

Review safety techniques and stay up to date on the latest industry changes
Identify areas to improve and strengthen your driving skills
Practice operating in both rural and urban settings
Learn to navigate corners, railroad tracks, and other driving scenarios with precision
Gain confidence in backing and parking for real-world situations
Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections
Complete upgrades and restriction removals

This course gives you the tools to safely and confidently return to the driver’s seat.

Commercial Driver's License Restriction Removal Get back on the road with confidence! Upgrade your driving skills, boost your safety knowledge, and update your industry knowledge.

Drive without Limits

Hazardous Materials Training This online class is ELDT certified and gives you the important information you need, like hazard types, shipping papers, markings, placards, and how to load and separate materials. You must pass this class before taking the knowledge test at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Cost: The online class is $100. After you finish it, you can take your endorsement test at Hawkeye for free.

Tanker Endorsement and Training Prepare to safely pull bulk liquids, gases, or pneumatic trailers. We can proctor your test or provide one-on-one training to help you prepare.

Double/Triple Endorsement To pull double or triple trailers, you need a CDL endorsement, which requires passing a knowledge exam. This endorsement isn’t needed for commercial vehicles towing multiple units that aren’t trailers.
