Hawkeye is a Google Campus, offering students access to Google Apps for Education. These tools, including Gmail, Google Docs, Drive, Sheets, Slides, and more, are designed to provide a collaborative and efficient way to create, share, and store your work.

Your account is created once you're accepted to the College. Please allow one business day after your acceptance for your account to be set up.

What's My Username and Password?

Your Hawkeye Email

Hawkeye uses Gmail for your official email account. We send important and time-sensitive information to your Hawkeye email, so be sure to check it regularly—at least once a week, but ideally every day. A convenient way to stay on top of your emails is by setting up the app on your phone.

Note: Your Hawkeye Google account is separate from any personal Google accounts you may have, so your personal Google account will remain unchanged. You can easily switch between both accounts on your computer and mobile devices.

Login to Your Hawkeye Gmail Account

The free Gmail mobile app is a convenient way to check your Hawkeye email frequently—ensuring that you receive the important college information you need.

  1. On your mobile device, open the Gmail app. If this app is not already installed, download the free Gmail app from your app store.
  2. In the top right, tap your profile picture.
  3. Tap "Add another account" and select "Google".
  4. Follow the steps on the screen to add your Hawkeye email account using your Hawkeye email address (firstname.lastname@hawkeyecollege.edu) and Hawkeye password.

To switch between multiple Google accounts, follow these steps:

  1. Open a Google app, like Gmail or Google Drive.
  2. In the top-right corner, click on your profile picture or initial.
  3. Click "Add another account".
  4. Sign in with your other Google account credentials. When signing into your Hawkeye account, be sure to enter your full email address, including @hawkeyecollege.edu.
  5. Once signed in, you can easily switch between accounts by clicking your profile picture or initial and selecting the account you want to use.

You can repeat this process to add multiple accounts and easily toggle between them.

Hawkeye does not guarantee the delivery of all emails sent to its users.

All incoming emails to staff and student email accounts are subject to filtering. The purpose of this filtering is to block spam, including both pornographic and non-pornographic mass emails.

The filtering system is automatically set up with rules designed to detect spam. While most of the blocked emails are spam, legitimate emails can occasionally get filtered out if they come from mail servers commonly associated with spammers.

Checking Your Spam Folder

If you're expecting an email and haven't received it, you can check your spam folder to see if it was mistakenly marked as spam. Just open the Gmail sidebar and click on "Spam" to check.

Google Apps for Education

Google apps are free, web-based tools that let you create, edit, and share documents from any device with internet access. Your work is automatically saved as you go, so you never lose progress. These apps are perfect for collaboration, allowing multiple people to work on the same document simultaneously, add comments, and make real-time edits.

These are just a few of the apps available to you:

  • Google Docs is a powerful word processor tool for writing and sharing documents.
  • Google Sheets lets you create, edit, and share spreadsheets online, making it easy to organize data, perform calculations, and create charts.
  • Google Calendar is an online scheduling tool that helps you stay organized and manage your time effectively. It allows you to create events, set reminders, and schedule appointments with ease. It's a great tool for coordinating schedules, setting up group meetings, and staying on top of important dates.
  • Google Drive is a cloud-based storage service that lets you store, access, and share files online. It integrates seamlessly with Google tools like Docs, Sheets, and Slides, allowing you to create and edit files directly in Drive. You can also share files or folders with others and collaborate in real time. Google Drive ensures your files are secure while making it easy to stay organized and work from anywhere.

Your Hawkeye Username and Password

Your Hawkeye username and password will give you access to myHawkeye, your Hawkeye email and Google apps, Canvas, campus computers, and the network. You'll use the same username and password for all of these tools.

Your username and password will be created once you're accepted to the College. Instructions on how to set up your account will be included in your acceptance letter.

Your Hawkeye username is usually your firstname.lastname and is the same for all Hawkeye services, including myHawkeye, your Hawkeye email and Google apps, Canvas, campus computers, and network access.

If you can't remember it, simply fill out this form to retrieve your username.

Look Up Your Hawkeye Username

Your initial password is "Hawkeye" followed by your six-digit birthdate. For example, if your birthday is January 4, 2002, your initial password will be Hawkeye010402.

After logging in, you'll be prompted to change your password. You'll need to create a password/passphrase, which is a longer and more secure password option. Make sure to choose one that you can easily remember.

How to Create Your Password/Passphrase

If you've logged in this semester or the previous fall/spring semester, including if you've taken Hawkeye classes in high school, but can't remember the password you set, you have several options to reset it:

  • Reset your password online

  • Reset your password in person: Stop by the Student Tutoring and Computer Lab or the Hawkeye Library. Be sure to bring a valid photo ID, such as your Hawkeye ID or driver's license, to confirm your identity.

  • Call to have your password reset: Be ready to answer a few questions to verify your identity.
