ALEKS Math Readiness Assessment Virtual Testing

1. Download the Respondus LockDown Browser for ALEKS.
2. Find the file you just downloaded on your computer, then double-click it to run the program.
3. Follow the prompts to install the browser.
4. Once it’s installed, Check your Setup & Installation to make sure everything is working. If it says "Installed," you’re all set!

When setting up your testing environment, make sure to follow these guidelines to ensure everything is ready when you test.

• No outside assistance is allowed. This includes help from other people or any resources (electronic or otherwise). Make sure no one is in the room while you're taking the test.
• Only blank scratch paper and pencils are allowed in your workspace. Make sure these are on your table before you start, as you won’t be able to leave the camera view once the test begins.
• No phones or calculators are allowed. A calculator icon will appear on your screen when it's time you can use one.
• Make sure your lighting is set up correctly. The general rule is to have light in front of you, not behind. Avoid taking the exam in a dark room or sitting with your back to a window, as this creates backlighting.

All videos are reviewed. Failure to follow these guidelines may result in a closer review of your recording for academic dishonesty.

When setting up your webcam, make sure your tabletop, hands, and face are visible in the camera view throughout the entire test. Choose one of the following options for placing your webcam.

• Push your laptop or computer back on the table.
• Raise your laptop or webcam by placing it on a stack of books.
• Position your laptop or camera off to the side.
• Sit at a table with a low chair.

Once you've found a good camera angle, don’t adjust or change it during the test. A common mistake is tilting the laptop screen once the exam starts, which can cause you to lose the setup you had.

When you enter the exam, the Startup Sequence will begin. Please read and follow all on-screen instructions for the Environment Scan and setting up your workspace. This happens before the exam and timer start. It includes the following steps:

• Picture ID: You’ll be prompted to show your Student ID or Driver’s License to the webcam, and it will take a snapshot of it.
• Environment Video: You’ll be asked to record your workspace. Slowly tilt your camera or lift your laptop to show your entire tabletop (even the area behind where your laptop is placed). Be sure to show the floor on either side of you and behind you.
• Webcam Setup: Ensure your tabletop, hands, and face are visible in the camera view throughout the test. For guidance on where to place your webcam, refer to Step 3: Set up Your Webcam.
