Peer Tutor and Peer Assisted Study Session (PASS) Leader Application

As a PEER Tutor you'll:

• Help students with a specific subject, such as Anatomy & Physiology I.
• Answer questions and adapt to each student's individual needs.
• Let students guide the tutoring session based on where they are in class.
• Meet with students in the Student Tutoring and Computer Lab.
• Work with students individually or in small groups.
• Earn $12.75 per hour

Good to know:

• You are not required to attend the course lectures.

As a PASS Leader you'll:

• Support students in a specific course and instructor's section, such as Anatomy & Physiology I with a particular professor.
• Attend class lectures so your study sessions match what students are learning.
• Plan and lead engaging review sessions with worksheets, activities, and discussions.
• Encourage students to learn from one another through group conversations and collaborative learning activities.
• Promote PASS by giving classroom presentations, sending emails, and serving as a positive role model.
• Earn $15.00 per hour

Minimum Qualifications

• Be currently enrolled at Hawkeye Community College when you're hired.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Have earned a B grade or better in the course you'd like to support, or receive a strong recommendation from a faculty member.

Job Expectations

If you're hired, you'll:

• Attend required orientation, training, and staff meetings.
