Scholarship Auditions

Scholarship auditions take place at the beginning of the semester each fall and spring.

For Spring 2026, auditions will be held on Monday, January 12 and Tuesday, January 13 in Black Hawk Hall, Room 255, from 2:20–3:20 PM.

If the scheduled times don’t work for you, you can request an alternative time — just be sure to do this before the listed audition dates.

Music Major Scholarship

Hawkeye offers two scholarships just for Music Majors — the Music Pathway Presidential Scholarship ($4,000 per year) and the Music Pathway Scholarship ($2,000 per year).

To apply, you'll need to:

  • Be a Music Transfer Major
  • Participate in an audition each year

To keep your scholarship, you'll need to:

  • Maintain a B or higher in all your music classes
  • Keep a 3.0 overall GPA

Ensemble and Lesson Scholarship

The Ensemble and Lesson Scholarship can cover the cost of 1–3 credits for students enrolled in MUS-154 Chorus or MUS-162 Instrumental Ensemble.

To apply, you'll need to:

  • Be enrolled in MUS-154 Chorus or MUS-162 Instrumental Ensemble
  • Participate in an audition each semester

To keep your scholarship, you’ll need to:

  • Participate in your assigned ensemble and take private lessons
  • Earn a C or higher in both lessons and ensemble
  • Maintain a 2.0 overall GPA

General Music Scholarship

The General Music Scholarship awards $100 – $1,000 per semester. Scholarship amounts are determined on a case-by-case basis.

To apply, you'll need to:

  • Be an active participant in the Music program by taking lessons, joining an ensemble, participating in the spring musical, or other music event
  • Participate in an audition or interview each semester

To keep your scholarship, you’ll need to:

  • Be an active participant in the Music program
  • Follow any requirements set by the scholarship committee
  • Earn a C or higher in your lessons
  • Maintain a 2.0 overall GPA

Your AA in Music is designed to transfer toward a bachelor's degree, and we make the transfer process as easy as possible.

An articulation agreement is a formal partnership between Hawkeye and another college or university that helps make sure the classes you take here count toward your transfer. Hawkeye holds an articulation agreement for the Music program with Wartburg College.

The credits you earn in this program are designed to transfer smoothly to most four-year colleges and universities in Iowa and beyond, including UNI.
