Credit vs. Non-Credit Programs

Programs That Fits Your Goals

Not sure whether you should choose a credit or non-credit program? The main difference is how you earn and use your credits.

Credit Programs

Credit programs award college credits that can count toward a degree, diploma, or certificate. These programs are a good choice if you want to work toward a college credential or may want to continue your education later.

Credit program awards include the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree, Associate of Applied Arts (AAA) degree, Associate of Arts (AA) degree, Associate of Science (AS) degree, Diploma, and Certificate.

Non-Credit Programs

Non-credit programs focus on specific skills or training and do not award college credits. They're often a shorter option for learning a new skill, meeting a job requirement, or advancing your career without committing to a longer program.

Non-credit program awards include the Workplace Certificate and Apprenticeship.

Which is right for you?

If you want to earn a college credential or keep your options open for future education, a credit program may be the better fit.

If you're looking for focused training to quickly build a specific skill, a non-credit program may be a better choice.
