" These numbers represent so much more than statistics—they reflect the incredible teamwork, dedication, and compassion of our faculty, staff, students, volunteers, and community partners. Every patient we were able to see is someone who now has improved access to dental care, and that's something to celebrate. "

The free summer clinic follows closely on the heels of the Give Kids a Smile® event held on April 3, 2026, which provided free dental care to nearly 50 kids.

Hawkeye Community College offers one of six dental hygiene programs in Iowa, and one of four programs that provide preventative and periodontal care in an on-site community college-based clinic. Each year Hawkeye's Dental Clinic sees more than 800 community patients, providing quality dental care and crucial hands-on clinical training for Dental Assisting and Dental Hygiene students.
