Student Art Show Awards and Scholarships Announced

Student Artists Honored at Annual Student Art Show Reception

Three scholarships and 12 awards were presented to Hawkeye Community College students during the opening reception of the annual Student Art Show held Thursday, April 9, in the Hawkeye Library on Main Campus in Waterloo.

Jurors for the show were artist and educator Julie Hughes and retired Professional Photography faculty member Larry Erickson.

The show includes works by students in Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Professional Photography, and Digital Mass Media, and will remain on display during regular library hours through May 5, 2026.

Scholarships Awarded

Three Graphic Design students also received scholarships during the reception.

Riley Finley of Cedar Falls, IA, received the Harry K. Watts Scholarship valued at $2,500.

Oliver Ertl of Hudson, IA, and Andi Steele of Waterloo, IA, each received a $600 Graphic Design Scholarship through the Hawkeye Community College Foundation.
