Thursday: October 8, 2020: Daily Health Check and When to Stay Home
As a part of our continued efforts to keep our RedTail nation safe and healthy, Rusty would like to remind you of the importance of a daily health check and to know when to stay home in his latest video.
The Daily Health Check is a simple way to reduce the spread of the virus by self-monitoring for COVID-19 related symptoms and knowing when to stay at home.
Ask yourself the following questions:
- Are you sick and experiencing one of the following COVID-19 symptoms?
- Shortness of breath
- Fever of 100.4
- Loss of taste or smell
- Sore throat
- Congestion or runny nose
- Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
- Have you been exposed to someone with COVID-19?
- Have you been tested for or diagnosed with COVID-19?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, do not come to campus. If you are already on campus, leave immediately. Also, please complete the confidential COVID-19 reporting form as another way to keep our community healthy. Students should contact their instructor(s) to let them know you will not be in class.
The Student Health Clinic or a designated representative will call and email individuals about their symptoms, whereabouts, and testing status, and provide them with instructions, including when they can safely return to campus.
Additionally, anyone who has been exposed to someone who has tested positive will be contacted. Hawkeye is in close communications with the Black Hawk County Health Department regarding cases on our campus and in the community.
Thank you for your continued efforts to keep our campus safe. Remember to wear a face mask, practice physically distancing, wash your hands frequently, and stay at home when you are sick. If we all do our part, we will keep our community healthy. We are in this together.
If you have questions or suggestions regarding Hawkeye’s response to COVID-19, please contact the Pandemic Planning Response team.
