Iowa Veterans Foundation Scholarship

The Iowa Veterans Foundation Scholarship is granted annually to qualified Veterans and descendants of active duty, honorably discharged, retired, Reserve Component and National Guard military personnel – officer or enlisted – working toward their degree. The amount and number of scholarships is flexible and dependent upon available funding within the Iowa Veterans Foundation.

This scholarship can be used at any accredited college or university within the state of Iowa, including any Iowa accredited area community technical or trade school so recognized by the foundation.

There are no restrictions as to course of study or time limit to applicants.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants must be an Iowa Veteran or descendent of an active duty, honorably discharged, retired, and/or Reserve Component and National Guard military personnel, officers or enlisted, who was an Iowa Veteran as evidenced by a certified copy of the member’s DD214.

To apply for the Iowa Veterans Foundation Scholarship, send the following documents to the address listed below.

  2. notarized transcripts from each accredited college, university, technical/trade school or high school you have attended

  3. certified copies of applicable DD214

  4. your most recent SAT / ACT test scores

All information given in the applications will be held in strict confidence, and will remain the property of the Iowa Veterans Foundation whether approved, not approved, or withdrawn.

Deadline

Application materials must be submitted on or before April 1 of the applicable application year.

Scholarship Awards

Selection shall be made on or before May 15th, at which time applicants will be notified of selection. Selected applicants shall receive a certificate of eligibility from the Scholarship Selection Committee upon notification of selection.

If you are selected to receive this scholarship, payments will be made directly to the registrar’s office of your school of choice upon direct notification to the Scholarship Selection Committee from the registrar’s office that you have been accepted for studies.

Acceptance notification from the registrar’s office must be made on letterhead stationery, sealed by the registrar’s office, and forwarded directly to Patty Hamann, IACCVA Treasurer, 400 Cedar Street, Tipton, Iowa 52772-1750.
