Counselors

Carol Hedberg, a Hawkeye counselor since 1997, has been in education for 30 years. She has her doctorate in Educational Leadership and her Master's degree in counseling. She specializes in crisis, individual and group counseling, and serves as counselor for several pre-tech programs. Professionally, Carol is president of the Iowa Community College Student Services Association and an Executive Board member for the Hawkeye Professional Education Association. Her community involvement includes being a facilitator for the Upper Midwest Region conflict management team and an elder for her church.
Rhonda McRina, with more than 13 years counseling experience, began at Hawkeye Community College in 2002. She has an MEd in Counseling from the University of Montevallo in Alabama and is currently pursuing a PhD in Educational Leadership from Iowa State University. Rhonda specializes in crisis, individual and career development counseling, and is committed to community outreach and improving equity/diversity concerns. She is actively involved in several state, regional, and local professional and civic organizations.
