The Hawkeye Community College Student Senate is a student-run organization that works to promote the welfare of the entire student body by giving the students a voice on campus. The Student Senate also assists in providing educational, cultural, recreational, and social activities throughout the school year.
"The members of the Student Senate pledge their commitment, leadership, and collaboration to embrace diversity within the college and community."
Any Hawkeye student is encouraged to become a part of the Student Senate.
Hawkeye's Student Senate took four Student Senate Executive Board members to the Statewide Leadership Committee on November 10-11. The conference was held at the Marriot Hotel in Coralville. The students who were able to attend were Ashlee Theel (President), Amy Ahmad (Secretary), Adrianne Voelker (Judicial Chair), and Stephanie Siebel (Activities Chair). They attended several workshops pertaining to leadership and educational issues. They were also able to meet and share ideas with other students from state, private, and community colleges throughout the Midwest.
