The Senior Companion Program of Hawkeye Community College provides citizens age 55 or over an opportunity to support other seniors by assisting them with daily tasks and by providing companionship in their homes. Through their dedication and service, Senior Companions allow other seniors within the community to continue to live independently. The program is designed to allow up to 83 men and women to provide companion services to 250 senior citizens in Black Hawk, Buchanan, and Bremer Counties.
The Senior Companion Monthly In-Service will take place on Monday, October 26, from 10:00am to 2:00pm at Tama Hall on Hawkeye Community College’s Main Campus.
Effective October 1, 2009, new age and income eligibility guidelines will be in place for the Senior Companions. The maximum income amounts will increase and the minimum age will be lowered to age 55. Please share this information with others as we are continually looking for volunteers to join the Senior Companion program.
Monthly newsletter from the Senior Companions programs provides program and in-service information and much more.
