Weekend College FAQ

Are there any special requirements for taking a Weekend College class?

• There are no special admission requirements – all students can register for classes offered on the weekends.
• You are required to attend class. Weekend College is an accelerated program. Classes meet three Saturdays in a row before having a Saturday off.
• You will be expected to do more homework outside of class than students who take classes in the traditional format.

What if I want a different program?

Many other programs can be earned by adding online classes, evening classes, or day classes to your schedule. Schedule a meeting a Hawkeye advisor to learn how this may work for you. Being a Weekend College student gives you preference for Saturday classes and services, but does not mean you cannot take other classes.

How many classes can I take on Saturday?

You can earn up to six credits a semester just by taking classes on Saturday. You can enroll in one or two classes per semester.

Are student services available on to Weekend College students?

Yes, you will be able to access all student services at orientation and most student services are available online or by appointment:

• Admissions
• Financial Aid
• Library
• Business Services
• Student Services
• Academic Support (Open Sundays)
• Food Service (Food Cart opens Saturday @ 11:00am. Vending any time.)
• Bookstore (open for orientation and the first Saturday session)

How much does this program cost?

Hawkeye's tuition and fees are $124.00 per credit hour. Some courses may have a course fee (see course descriptions).

Can I get Financial Aid?

Yes, students enrolled in the Weekend College have the same opportunity to receive Financial Aid and other student services as other Hawkeye students.
