New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation is a come-and-go open house that will be in Tama Hall on

  • Tuesday, August 12, 4:30-7:30pm
  • Wednesday, August 13, 9:00am - Noon
  • Wednesday, August 13, 4:30-7:30pm

New Student Orientation is designed to assist you in your transition to Hawkeye and introduce you to the services available to help you succeed in college. We will have a variety of representatives from various offices and organizations available to help answer any questions you may have. Visit them at your convenience during the open house times.

NOTE: This is not a session to register for classes - it is a time for students new to Hawkeye to find out about services available on campus.

Special 30-minute workshops will help you learn about…

  • How to be Successful @ College (The real story!)

    A counselor from Student Services will talk about the do’s and don’ts of college and answer your questions.
  • Student Support Services Panel

    Representatives from TRiO, Hawkeye Support Services and the Iowa Department of Vocational Rehabilitation Services will give you the information and tools you need to overcome academic barriers to your education
  • Faculty Expectations

    A panel of faculty members will give insight to success in… and out of the classroom.
  • Student Health Clinic Drop In

    Our nurse practitioner or mental health counselor will be available for individual conversations. (This will be on a first come, first serve basis.)
