  List of available magazines and journals at the Hawkeye Community College Library.

• EBSCOhost

  Off campus use requires Hawkeye network User ID and password

  EBSCOhost provides access to online magazine/journal/newspaper databases with indexing for several thousand magazine/journal/newspaper titles. Many of these appear as full-text sources online that you can print to your local printer. In addition EBSCOhost databases index and abstract print magazines and journals received by the Hawkeye Community College Library. Databases included:

  • Academic Search Full-Text Premier

    Includes more than 4,700 magazines/journals of special interest to college students, including full-text for 3,600 peer reviewed journals.

  • MasterFile Premier Full-Text

    Includes more than 3,200 magazines/journals, including business, industry, agriculture, and popular magazines, Over 2,500 in full-text.

  • Business Source Elite

    Includes over 1,100 scholarly business journals, including full-text journals covering business, management, economics, finance, banking, and accounting.

  • CINAHL Nursing & Allied Health

    Worldwide English language coverage of nursing and allied health journals includes full-text for 200 journals. Access is limited to four simultaneous users.

  • Pre-CINAHL

    Contains indexing for new nursing journal articles that do not appear yet in CINAHL.

  • EBSCO Animals

    The database provides full text records describing the nature and habitat of familiar animals.

  • ERIC

    The Educational Resource Information Center contains more than 2,200 digests along with references for additional information and citations and abstracts from over 980 educational and education-related journals.

  • GreenFILE

    GreenFILE offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more.

  • Health Source – Consumer Edition

    Information on topics including, medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, child care, sports medicine and general health.

  • Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition

    600 scholarly full-text medical discipline journals.

  • MagillOnLiteraturePlus

    Provides full-text critical analyses and brief plot summaries of the most studied works in the history of literature plus biographies and author essays.

  • MEDLINE

    Comprehensive worldwide medical literature - Not full-text.

  • Military & Government Collection

    Offers current news from a thorough collection of periodicals, academic journals, and other content pertaining to all branches of the military and government, This database provides full text for nearly 400 journals and periodicals and indexing and abstracts for an additional 500 titles.

  • Newspaper Source

    Provides selected full text for 25 national (U.S.) and international newspapers. The database also contains full text television & radio news transcripts, and selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers. Updated daily.

  • Primary Search

    Includes full-text for 60 popular magazines for elementary school research.

  • Professional Development Collection

    Over 500 full-text journals designed for professional educators.

  • PsycArticles

    A definitive source of full-text, peer-reviewed scholarly and scientific articles in psychology from 57 journals - 46 published by the American Psychological Association (APA) and 11 from allied organizations. Coverage from 1985 to present.

  • Regional Business News

    This database provides comprehensive full text coverage of 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all U.S. metropolitan and rural areas.

  • Teacher Reference Center

    Provides indexing and abstracts for more than 270 of the most popular teacher and administrator journals and magazines to assist professional educators.

  • Vocational and Career Collection

    Designed for vocational and technical libraries at community colleges. This collection provides full text coverage for 400 trade and industry-related periodicals.

• ERIC with full-text ED Documents

  The ERIC (Education Resources Information Center) online database provides thousands of full text ERIC (ED) documents, 1993 to the present. Additional full text documents will be added in the future.

  ERIC (ED) documents are also available via the EBSCOhost database. Look for the "Full Text from ERIC" link on the results page. Click on the link to access the document.

  Off-campus access to the online subscription databases requires your Hawkeye Community College username and password.

  Provides full-text documents from over 5,900 news, business, legal, medical, and reference publications.

• NewsBank - America's News Magazines

  Search U.S. and international news, business, lifestyle, entertainment, sports, and science and technology from familiar magazines.

• ProQuest

  Off campus use requires Hawkeye network User ID and password.

  • ProQuest Criminal Justice Periodicals Index

    CJPI provides cover-to-cover access of 45 criminal justice journals frequently consulted by professionals, plus complete abstracts for over 100 additional titles. Many of the indexed and abstracted journals are received by Hawkeye Community College library.
