Interlibrary Loan Service

Items not currently available at the Hawkeye Community College Library can be requested via interlibrary loan. The library pays the cost of borrowing books and obtaining periodical article photocopies from other libraries. Article copies typically arrive in 3-4 days; books normally arrive in 7-10 days and are usually available for 3-week use.

Don't forget to search the library catalog before using Interlibrary Loan.

  • This service is provided to Hawkeye staff and students only.
  • A maximum of 5 interlibrary loan requests per day per person will be processed. More than 5 requests can be submitted per day, but not all requests may be processed that day.
  • The Hawkeye Community College Library will try to contact you via email and/or telephone as soon as the requested material is available. If you have not been contacted within 10 days of your request, please check with the library.
  • The Hawkeye Community College reserves the right to refuse an interlibrary loan request if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the request would involve violation of federal copyright law or national interlibrary loan guidelines.
  • Individuals with a library fine of $10.00 of more may not request materials via interlibrary loan until all fines are paid.
