The Hawkeye Community College Library is located on the main college campus at 1501 East Orange Road, Waterloo, Iowa. The Library is located in the lower level of the Library Building, which is adjacent to Hawkeye Center.
The Hawkeye Community College Library is open to the students, faculty, and staff of Hawkeye Community College and to the general public. A Hawkeye Community College ID is necessary to check out materials. Members of the public may check out through the Iowa Open Access program.

An additional 13 wireless laptops are available for use anywhere in the library, and 12 laptops are available to checkout for home use for up to one week. A library classroom with 21 computers is available for library instruction.
Hawkeye Community College Library, University of Northern Iowa Rod Library, Cedar Falls Public Library, Waterloo Public Library, and Allen College Library are members of the Cedar Valley Library Consortium. The Consortium shares technology to produce a single online public access catalog of the libraries' holdings. Holdings may be searched for each individual library or as the entire consortium.
Most library materials can be checked out, and in most cases there is no limit on the number of items you can check out at one time. You must have your Hawkeye Card with you for checkout. Note the chart below for specific loan periods.
Library fines exist only to encourage timely return of library materials. Although Hawkeye Community College’s fines are modest, over a period of several days, fines do mount up especially if you have several items overdue.
Reserve items and videos carry higher fines because these are items that are often required reading or viewing that must be available for many users. See the chart below for specific fines.
Once you are logged in you can...
NOTE
If your item does not renew, please call the Library at 319-296-4006.

You may request that an item that is checked out be held for your use when it is returned to the Library. The online library catalog will indicate when an item is due to be returned. The staff at the Circulation Desk will place the hold for you.
Faculty reserve items cannot be placed on hold.
In addition, items with the location of "HCC In Processing" in the online library catalog can be requested at the Circulation Desk. These are new library materials that are not on the shelves yet. Please allow at least 24 hours for the item(s) to be processed for your use.
Supplemental course material may be placed on reserve at the Hawkeye Community College Library for one or more classes by students or faculty. Learn more about Course Reserves
Unfortunately, library materials sometimes are lost or damaged. The person who checked out the items will be billed the replacement cost for each lost or damaged book and video. Periodicals are assessed at $10.00 per issue.
Library checkout privileges are suspended until library bills are paid. In addition, you will not be able to receive a transcript of your classes until this bill is paid in full.
