> Rules, Recordkeeping, and Reporting
Notification Rules
As the holder of an F-1, non-immigrant, student visa you are required to notify the International Student Services Coordinator or Director of Student Life/Development of any reportable changes so that they may be recorded in SEVIS. Failure to report these changes/events within the specified timeframe will, most likely, result in your being declared out of status with Immigration. It is your responsibility to be sure the changes/events are reported!
Hawkeye Community College must report any/all of the following information to SEVIS within 21 days of its occurrence:
Any student who has failed to maintain status or complete his or her program
A change of the student or dependent's legal name or U.S. address
Any student who has graduated early or prior to the program end date listed on the I-20 form
Any disciplinary action taken by the school against the student as a result of the student being convicted of a crime
Any other notification request made by SEVIS with respect to the current status of the student
Recordkeeping Requirements
Below is a list of the records we must keep about each International Student according to the Immigration rules and requirements:
Name
Date and place of birth
Country of citizenship
Current address where the student resides
The student's current academic status
Date of commencement of studies
Degree program and field of study
Whether the student has been certified for Practical Training, and the beginning and end dates of certification
Termination date and reason, if known
Copies of the written application to HCC, proof of financial responsibility, and academic records used for admission to HCC
The number of credits completed each semester
A photocopy of the student's I-20
Reporting Requirements
HCC must report each term or session and no later than 30 days after the deadline for registering for classes the following to SEVIS:
Whether the student has enrolled at the school, dropped below a full course of study without prior authorization by the DSO (International Student Advisor), or failed to enroll
The current address of each enrolled student
