PSEO is designed for you to earn college credit in high school.
PSEO is designed for 11th and 12th grade students who have not met their graduation requirements. Talented and gifted students in 9th and 10th grade may be eligible. You must meet Hawkeye's admissions requirements and must not be taking a "comparable" course. A "comparable" course is one offered by:
You may enroll in classes at Hawkeye and become a part-time student. This means you may take eleven credit hours or less, or up to three classes. To get a list of the classes available, visit with your high school counselor or request a list from Hawkeye's Admission Office or your Hawkeye County Director.
You will earn both high school credit and college credit for the courses taken. Your high school will determine the amount of high school credit awarded. Once you successfully complete a class it will be a part of your high school and Hawkeye transcript. If you are attending a college other than Hawkeye after graduation, you should contact that college to make sure your Hawkeye courses will transfer.
Either your high school or school district will pay for the cost of tuition, textbooks, materials, and fees. You or your family will be responsible for the cost of transportation to and from class, field trips, and other out-of-class activities. If you do not pass a course, you or your family are responsible for all fees.
*Steps must be completed at least five days before high school classes begin.
Your course schedule, including location, start date, and times will be mailed.
