Supervision in Health Care Facility

Purpose: This course is designed to assist the practical nurse to gain the knowledge and skills useful in personnel management and client care. The participant will examine selected management problems, discuss related basic theory and principles and apply these in solving problems. Health care facilities as organizations, management tasks and skills, leadership qualities and nursing care modifications for the chronically ill and geriatric client will me the major topics covered. IBN Criteria 5.3(2) a (1, 4, 5)

Objectives: Participants will:

  1. Identify some of the basic characteristics of all organizations and compare health care facilities relative to these characteristics.
  2. Discuss management goals and tasks and recognize the role and responsibility of managers in health care facilities.
  3. Describe leadership qualities that will assist the supervisor in the health care facility to achieve goals.
  4. Recognize the special nursing needs of individual clients; utilize this knowledge in adapting and assisting others to adapt nursing care for clients in a health care facility.
