Non-Parenteral Medication Aide

This course fulfills the requirements for nurse aides to administer non-parenteral medications in long term care facilities. Participants must meet State of Iowa pre-requisites. A 10 Hour practicum will be completed in the sponsoring.

Note: Students working in a Nursing Facility (NF) must meet State of Iowa requirements to enter course:

  1. Must be on the Nurse Aide Registry for the State of Iowa.
  2. Employment in sponsoring facility for 6 months.
  3. Recommendation from facility administrator.
  4. Proficiency in taking blood pressures.

Students working in an Assisted Living Facility:

  1. Must have recommendation from facility administrator.
  2. Do not have to be a nurse aide on registry.
  3. Do not have to meet the six month work requirement
  4. Proficiency in taking blood pressures.

Dates: Tuesdays 008/26, 09/16, 09/23,09/30 & also Thursdays 08/28, 09/04, 09/11, 09/25/08

Tuition: $230.00 includes handbook and materials

**** Tuition must be paid 48 hours before the first class session. A $15.00 late fee will be assessed after that. If you register and are unable to attend you will need to notify Hawkeye Community College 48 hours prior to the first class session or you will be filled the course fee. If you register, have paid the course fee, and are unable to attend you will need to notify Hawkeye Community College 48 hours prior to the first class session to receive a full refund. There will be no refunds otherwise. This policy also pertains to third party billings.
