Many classes are held daily on the Iowa Communications Network (ICN). The ICN is supported by a support structure made up of regional technologyand distance learning staff located at the Community College and AEA. Annual funding from the legislature enables this support structure to function. Oversight is provided by a Regional Telecommunications Council in each merged area of the state.

Region 7 Regional Telecommunications Council
This nine member Council meets bimonthly and is responsible for the regional support of the ICN, including:
  
  • Technical support for video classrooms
  • Local area network support
  • Scheduling support
  • Coordination and training activities within the region

  • Educational Telecommunications Council
    The 18 members of the Educational Telecommunications Council meet regularly throughout the year as representatives of their constituent groups.  The meetings are held at Iowa Public Television in Johnston, Iowa.  The ETC serves to advise the Iowa Telecommunications and Technology Commission on needs and educational issues related to the ICN.

    Iowa Telecommunications and Technology Commission
    This five member commission, the Iowa Telecommunications and Technology Commission, oversees the operational policies of the ICN, and meets bi-monthly at the Starc Armory in Johnston, Iowa.
