Hawkeye uses the web-based Microsoft Outlook program, allowing you to access your email from anywhere on and off campus. All students have a Hawkeye email account. Hawkeye sends important college information including your grades, attendance, graduation, etc by email only.

What is my email username?

Your email username is your legal first name and last name, in lower case letters. For example: Bob Doe = robert.doe. If you have a common legal name or are unsure of your email username:

  1. Go to "My Hawkeye"
  2. Click on SOAR
  3. Click on "What's My User ID?" located at the bottom of the page.
  4. Enter your Last Name and either your SSN OR your Colleague ID (seven numbers)
  5. Click on Submit

What is my email address?

Your email address is your email username @hawkeyecollege.edu. For example: if my username is robert.doe my email address is robert.doe@hawkeyecolleg.edu. If you have a common legal name or are unsure of your email username please see "What is my email username?" above

What is my password?

  • If you are setting up your Hawkeye email your temporary password is your birthdate expressed in 6 digits. Example: January 4, 1983 = 010483.
  • If you have forgotten your password you can now reset your password online
    OR you can come in to the Academic Support Center or Library. Passwords cannot be reset over the telephone or via e-mail. You will also need to bring a valid picture ID, such as your Hawkeye photo ID or Driver's license. If you are a Distance Learning student, please contact your class instructor.

How do I set up my Hawkeye email account?

To log-in to your Hawkeye email the first time:

  1. Go to the Hawkeye email log-on
  2. Username: see "What is my username?" above.
  3. Your initial temporary password is your birthdate expressed in 6 digits. Example: January 4, 1983 = 010483.
  4. Once you've logged in you will be asked to change your password. Please choose a password you will remember.

How can I forward my Hawkeye email to another email account?

What's my SOAR User ID?

Your SOAR user ID is your legal first name and last name, in lower case letters. For example: Bob Doe = robert.doe. If you have a common legal name or are unsure of your username:

  1. Go to "My Hawkeye"
  2. Click on SOAR
  3. Click on "What's My User ID?" located at the bottom of the page
  4. Enter your Last Name and either your SSN OR your Colleague ID (seven numbers)
  5. Click on Submit

What's my SOAR Password?

  1. Go to "My Hawkeye"
  2. Click on SOAR
  3. Click on "What's My Password?" located at the bottom of the page

To reset your SOAR password

If you have forgotten your SOAR password you can reset your password online.

  1. Go to "My Hawkeye"
  2. Click on SOAR
  3. Click on "What's My Password?" located at the bottom of the page
  4. Click on "Reset my password"
  5. Enter your Last Name and either your SSN OR your Colleague ID (seven numbers)
  6. Click on Submit
  7. Select an email address to send your temporary password to
  8. Wait about 2 minutes and check your email for your new temporary password
  9. When you log back into SOAR with your new temporary password you will be asked to change the password. Please choose a password you will remember when you return to SOAR at a later time.

The Academic Support Center and the Library CANNOT reset SOAR passwords.

I've been locked out of SOAR

If you have been locked out of SOAR you will need to reset your password online. Please follow the "To reset your SOAR password" instructions above.

Computers & Network

Hawkeye students have access to the computer labs and work stations on campus to use. Students using Hawkeye Community College computers on campus will also be given a personal network drive to store their files and folders. Labeled the ā€˜P’ drive, it is accessible from any computer on campus. Additional drives and usernames may be assigned by your instructors for class use.

What's my password?

The first time you log into the system, your password will be your 6-digit birth date (ex. if your birthday is August 2, 1985 your initial password will be 080285). All students will be required to reset this password the first time they access their account.

If you know your password and would like to change it you can do so via the web:

  1. Log-in to your email account
  2. Click on the Options tab located in the left column
  3. Scroll down to Password and click on the Change Password button; a new window will pop-up.
  4. Follow the instructions on the screen and press the OK button to reset your password.

The Hawkeye Card Online Center

Your Hawkeye Card can be used as a pre-paid card. You can put money on your Hawkeye Card at the Business Office, through the Hawkeye Card Center - an automated machine outside the bookstore in Hawkeye Center, or online through the Hawkeye Card Online Center.

What's my username?

Your username is the same as your computer and network, SOAR, and email username. Please see "What's my SOAR User ID?" above.

What's my password?

Your password for the Hawkeye Card Online Center is the same as your computer and network password. Please see "What's my password? above.

How do I log-in to make a Guest Deposit?

To log-in to make a Guest Deposit enter the student's first and last name along with their 7 digit student ID #.
