Language and Culture Training Opportunities

The Cedar Falls Center for Business and Industry is able to provide many opportunities in the area of language and cultural development for your business. Some of the classes, workshops and seminars we can provide include Command Spanish® and English as a Second Language in the Workplace.

Command Spanish®

Hawkeye Community College has access to certified trainers for Command Spanish®, the country's leading provider of customized language and cross-cultural programs for non-Spanish speakers who interact with Spanish speakers in the workplace. The objective is to provide learner-friendly language materials and workshops that require NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF SPANISH. The program eliminates the tedious grammar instruction found in most other language programs. They vary in length from 12 to 20 hours of classroom time. There are many short-term Spanish programs available for professionals in the following occupations.

English as a Second Language in the Workplace

Hawkeye Community College has the resources to customize English classes in the workplace. The objective of the classes is to improve worker effectiveness and productivity by improving the communication skills of employees whose native language is not English. The course will be designed to fit the needs of workplace skills at your company or business. The content will focus on improving English speaking, reading, listening, and writing skills that will help workers function on the job, as well as in the community and in the home.
