Green Car Guy?

What could that possibly mean?

See, I drive all over Northeast Iowa, visiting high schools, talking to students, and refilling my coffee mug at Casey's.

On one hand, that's great, because I get to:
+ meet lots of great students,
+ catch up with school counselors and teachers,
+ get out of the office, and
+ practice defensive driving on county roads during harvest season, when the combines are out in force.

On the other hand, it takes fuel to do all this. If you drive, or know a driver, or have taken a casual glance at filling station signs, you've probably noticed the stuff ain't cheap these days.

You've also probably heard about "green technologies"--technology that's earth-friendly, with mimimal environmental impact.

That's why we're going to try this:

For the first time ever,
I will have the flashiest car in the high school parking lot.
It'll so boss.

compressed natural gas, and the College won its use for six months. I'll get to drive it all over Hawkeye's service area! During my visits, I'll talk with students and teachers about its technology and environmental impact, as well as Hawkeye's reasons for taking up this experiment.

I'm totally excited to get this thing on the road, and I can't wait to write about my travels.

SO: watch this space for updates! I'll be posting new stuff all summer, about both the car and all kinds good stuff that future students need to know about.
