Academic Support Center — Workshops

The Academic Support Center offers many free workshops to help students develop their computer and study skills. All workshops are held in the ASC located in Bremer Hall, room 116.

To schedule a workshop, contact Judi Neuverth at 319-296-4029, asupport@hawkeyecollege.edu, or come to the ASC to schedule a workshop.

If you are unable to attend a group workshop you may schedule an appointment with a member of the ASC staff for an individual workshop session. Workshops are open to all full or part time Hawkeye Community College students.

College Study Skills Workshops

  • Time Management

    Develop a workable schedule to manage homework, family, leisure, and work obligations. There are two sessions for this workshops, and students need to register for both sessions.
  • Test Taking Skills

    Learn strategies to combat testing anxiety and to prepare for and to perform well on tests
  • Textbook Reading

    Learn SQ3R, an effective textbook reading strategy
  • Note Taking Skills

    Learn how to take more useful lecture and reading notes
  • Study Behavior Inventory and Learning Styles Assessment

    Indentify personal study strengths and weaknesses through this computerized assessment. Learn how you can improve your skills and get better grades! Students are given strategies and resources for study behavior and skills improvement.
