Academic Support Center — Computer Labs

The Academic Support Center Computer Lab can be used by all full-time and part-time Hawkeye students. Coordinators are available to assist students with software questions and file management. Computer skills and study skills workshops and tutoring are also available, offered in group or one-on-one sessions.

• 6 Macintosh computers with Applied Arts software

• Black and white printers and color lasor printers
• Several computers equiped with CD-ROM burners and DVD players
• All computers have USB ports for your flash drives
• Microsoft Office 2007 and various other business and class software

Applied Arts Macintosh Lab

• 6 iMacs loaded with Desktop Publishing and Graphics Art software

English as a Second Language (ESL) Lab

Our ESL lab computers have interactive computer programs to help international students improve their English reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills which are necessary for academic success. The lab is open for ESL students to use for exercises anytime the lab is not being used for classes.

Special Needs Adaptive Equipment Lab

The Adaptive Equipment Lab consists of two computers equipped with adaptive peripherals and software. This includes JAWS, Open Book, Dragon Naturally Speaking, and a hands free mouse. A CCTV, a scanner, and an adaptive keyboard are also available.

Our computer coordinators can help you learn to use the equipment and applications so that you can become proficient in using speech-to-text and text-to-speech applications, as well as other adaptive technologies. Please see Student Services first to determine your needs.
