Student Ambassadors

The Hawkeye Student Ambassadors are a group of students who assist the Admissions Office with the recruitment of new students and who represent and promote Hawkeye Community College within the college and community.

What do we do?

• Help with Experience Hawkeye visit days
• Give tours to prospective students and parents
• Participate in student panels by answering prospective students’ questions
• Help with large group visits to campus
• Visit with prospective students about Hawkeye

To be a Student Ambassador, you must…

• complete a Student Ambassador Application
• be a current/future Hawkeye student
• maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA while at Hawkeye Community College
• enjoy meeting new people
• be willing to help others
• be enthusiastic

Student Ambassador Coordinator – Gail Zehr Thank you for your interest in the Student Ambassador Organization here at Hawkeye! After joining the Admissions Team in May 2005, I have had the privilege to oversee this group since May 2006. I enjoy my work with the Student Ambassadors and I hope you consider participating. Communications Leader - Ashley Hey, my name is Ashley! I graduated from Lisbon High School. This is my second year at Hawkeye in the Liberal Arts program. After Hawkeye I plan to transfer to UNI. I am the communications leader for the Student Ambassadors which means I am responsible for emailing and updating the group about things that are going on and events we have. We have so much fun in this group, and it's a great way to meet people and make new friends. Come join us, you wouldn't want to miss out!
Recruitment Leader - Kendra Hey, my name is Kendra. I am from Oskaloosa, Iowa and was home schooled through high school. This is my second year at Hawkeye, and I am in the Business Administration program. After Hawkeye I will transfer to UNI and major in Marketing. Hawkeye has offered great opportunities for me to grow and learn with such a helpful, friendly, and fun environment. I am the Recruitment Leader for Student Ambassadors. I will help new ambassadors learn more about Hawkeye and encourage students to join the Student Ambassadors. It’s a blast you don’t want to miss out on. Come join us!
Social Leader - John Hello, my name is John Weaver and I graduated from South Hardin High School in 2008. I am currently in my second year of the Police Science program at Hawkeye and am very impressed with the quality teaching. I am the Social leader for the student ambassadors. My job is to plan social and community service events for the ambassadors. I also plan the holiday party and the end of the year trip. Come join us and see!
