Choosing a Career Path: Career exploration workshop (Part 1)
During Part I of the Career Exploration Workshop you will begin confirming, gathering, and organizing information you know about yourself and building it into a useful data profile.
The assessments you take will give you an opportunity to think about yourself in an organized way and assist you in the process of making decisions about your education and future career.

During part II of the Career Exploration Workshop you will take the time to explore various career options with the objective of determining career success.
Upon careful selection of two occupational interests you will evaluate specific criteria such as; educational and training requirements, salaries, job outlook, and other relevant information needed to make informed decisions in regards to your future.

Money for College: Hawkeye Community College financial aid key resources
This workshop will provide you with timely information on how financial aid policy and procedures affect your academic plan.
Understanding this process and having increasing knowledge of key resources will maximize your opportunity to cover the cost of attending Hawkeye Community College.

Money for College: Financial literacy workshop
After securing grants and loans for your first year college experience, this workshop will help you understand the impact of student loans and how to implement a loan payment plan.
You will have the opportunity to review various options to repay your student loans including "loan forgiveness" incentives that minimize the burden of repaying costly loans and interests.

Beyond the AA Degree: Transfer information and procedures workshop
If you are planning to transfer to a four-year university, this workshop will provide timely information and review necessary procedures for a successful transfer.
It includes completion of the admission and financial aid applications, campus visits, and review of program/degree requirements for select Iowa colleges and universities (UNI, ISU, University of Iowa, Wartburg).

College Textbooks: Effective reading techniques
Learn to read with greater purpose and comprehension. This workshop will discuss concepts such as using context clues and making inferences.
We will discuss and practice SQ3R, a tried and true textbook reading strategy.
Must visit with the TRIO Writing Specialist.
Testing in College: Effective test-taking strategies
Besides test-taking basics, this workshop will discuss effective study strategies and reducing test anxiety.
We will also discuss different types of test questions with an emphasis on how to approach and write test essay questions.
Must visit with the TRIO Writing Specialist.
Writing Term Papers: How to get started and complete one
Often the most difficult aspect of completing a paper is getting it started.
In this workshop you will learn how to establish a content and organizational road map for your papers and how to avoid "Now what do I say?" frustrations.
