Care Team

We’re here to help.

The Care Team is a non-emergency, holistic response team which engages in support, interventions, and follow-up with students who are showing signs of distress. Submitting a referral connects the student directly to us for support.

Is this an emergency? If so, call 911. For on-campus incidents, call Public Safety.

How Care Team Works

  1. Care Team receives a referral from someone concerned about a student.
  2. Care Team meets to evaluate student needs and concerns.
  3. Care Team reaches out to the student and plans a supportive course of action.
  4. Care Team will follow up with faculty or staff as needed.
  5. The Care Team will work with the student until no additional concerns are presented.

Reporting a Concern

Identifying a student in need early can lead to early intervention and prevention of harm. Care Team is able to connect the dots among shared concerns to best assist students.

If you’re concerned about a student’s mental or physical well-being and there is not an imminent threat of harm or danger, a Care Team referral is the right area for your concern.

Anyone can submit a concern about an active student. Concerns you should report on include:

  • Any concern of physical or mental well-being
  • Suicidal thoughts (not in imminent danger)
  • Changes in mood or behavior
  • Disturbing speech or writing
  • Threats to others (direct or indirect)
  • A situation that makes you uneasy even if you are unsure about the circumstances or events
  • You've noticed signs that the student is distressed
