The following immunizations are recommended for students attending Hawkeye Community College.
Vaccine | Major Indications |
MMR Measles, Mumps, Rubella | All college students born after 1956 without history of disease are recommended to have two doses of MMR vaccine. |
Varicella Chicken Pox | All college students without history of disease are recommended to have two doses of varicella vaccine. |
Tdap Tetanus/diphtheria/pertussis (whooping cough) | All college students are recommended to have a Tdap vaccine regardless of interval since last tetanus. |
Hepatitis B | All college students are recommended to have the Hepatitis B series which consists of 3 immunizations over the course of 6 months. |
Meningitis (A,C,Y,W-135) | All college students living in dormitories/residence halls or close quarters are recommended to have the meningitis vaccine. |
Meningococcal B | The meningococcal B vaccine is available to all students ages 16–23 for short-term protection while in college. |
Influenza Flu shot | All college students are recommended to get the flu shot annually. |
HPV Human Papillomavirus Vaccine | All college students through age 26 are recommended to get the Human Papillomavirus Vaccine. |
