Student Conduct

Student Disciplinary Code

Any student found to have committed the following misconduct is subject to disciplinary action:

  1. Acts of dishonesty, including but not limited to the following:

    1. Cheating, plagiarism, or other forms of academic dishonesty. See Academic Integrity for additional information.

    2. Furnishing false information to any Hawkeye Community College official, faculty member, or office.

    3. Forgery, alteration, or misuse of any Hawkeye document, record, or instrument of identification.

    4. Tampering with the election of any Hawkeye recognized student organization.

  2. Disruption or obstruction of teaching, administration, disciplinary proceedings, other Hawkeye activities, including its public-service functions on or off campus, or other authorized non-Hawkeye activities.

  3. Physical abuse, verbal abuse, threats, intimidation, harassment, coercion and/or other conduct which threatens or endangers the health or safety of any person.

  4. Attempted or actual theft of and/or damage to property of Hawkeye or property of a member of our college community or other personal or public property.

  5. Hazing, defined as an act which endangers the mental or physical health or safety of a student, or which destroys or removes public or private property, for the purpose of initiation, admission into, affiliation with, or as a condition for continued membership in, a group or organization.

  6. Failure to comply with directions of Hawkeye’s officials or law enforcement officers acting in performance of their duties and/or failure to identify oneself to these persons when requested to do so.

  7. Unauthorized possession, duplication or use of keys of any Hawkeye’s premises or unauthorized entry to or use of Hawkeye premises.

  8. Violation of published Hawkeye’s policies, rules, or regulations.

  9. Violation of federal, state or local law on Hawkeye’s premises or at Hawkeye sponsored or supervised activities.

  10. Obstruction of the free flow of pedestrian or vehicular traffic on Hawkeye’s premises or at Hawkeye sponsored or supervised functions.

  11. Conduct which is disorderly, lewd, or indecent; breach of peace; or aiding, abetting, or procuring another person to breach the peace on Hawkeye’s premises or at functions sponsored by, or participated in by Hawkeye.

  12. Violation of Hawkeye's computer policies including computer misconduct, email, and My Hawkeye policies as well as the copyright infringement and peer-to-peer file sharing policy.

  13. Using, possessing, or misusing any alcoholic beverage or other intoxicating beverage on Hawkeye property or at Hawkeye-sponsored functions except as authorized by Hawkeye regulations or authority. See Drug-Free Campus policy for additional information.

  14. Manufacturing, processing, selling, delivering, providing, using, purchasing, or possessing any narcotic drug, marijuana, or other addictive, dangerous or controlled substance, on Hawkeye property or at Hawkeye-sponsored functions is prohibited. Drug paraphernalia is also prohibited. See Drug-Free Campus policy for additional information.

  15. Violating the Tobacco-Free Campus policy.

  16. Engaging in behavior which is discriminatory, including harassment of other students and staff, based on race, color, creed, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, age, disability, or to the extent covered by law, veteran status. Sexual harassment includes, but is not limited to, unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical contact of a sexual nature.
