Located in the Cedar Valley, the college serves 27 school districts across its 10-county service area, providing concurrent enrollment to more than 1,900 high school students.

Job Summary

This position leads the Academic Affairs function of the College and provides administrative direction to the instructional and student services areas of the College.

Works in conjunction with the Department of Education, high schools, and two and four-year institutions concerning College programs.

Manages off-campus centers.

Serves as member of the President’s confidential staff and performs special projects for the President.

Essential Job Functions

Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Reports directly to the President of the College and participates as a member of the College’s senior leadership team.

  • Provides leadership, vision, and administrative management for all instructional programs and services at the College.

  • Collaborates with and supervises the academic deans, the director of the library, institutional research, and the Van G. Miller Adult Learning Center.

  • Promotes academic excellence thru academic planning, policy, curriculum, and program development efforts.

  • Promote and support the recruitment and retention of qualified diverse faculty and staff.

  • Provides meaningful faculty and academic staff development activities.

  • Establishes academic budgeting priorities and manages grant initiatives.

  • Provides overall vision and direction of all academic offerings ensuring high quality programs, innovative curriculum, and advanced technology.

  • Maintains positive and productive relationships with the Iowa Department of Education, other colleges and universities within and outside of the State of Iowa, K-12 institutions, and business and industry leaders, and other key stakeholders in the College’s service area.

  • Provides oversight, guidance, and leadership support to the success of the Guided Pathways Program.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the President.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a related field.

  • Five years of college-level administrative experience.

  • Instructional experience in Higher Education.

  • Demonstrated abilities in building and maintaining partnerships.

  • Dedicated to the use of data in the decision-making process.

  • Proven experience with credit programming.

  • Knowledge of budget administration and fiscal management.

  • Visionary qualities of a forward-thinking leader in an evolving environment.

  • Tolerance for differing points of view, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting diversity, inclusion and working collaboratively with faculty, staff and students from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate individuals and groups.

  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus and work in a collegial manner.

  • Demonstrated computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

Preferences

  • An earned Doctorate or pursuit of Doctoral degree.
  • Demonstrated experience providing oversight and leadership support to programs similar to that of Guided Pathways.

Working Conditions

  • Requires skills for succeeding in an office environment, using technology.
  • Requires good hand-eye coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.
  • Work is performed in an office setting.
  • Sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours.
  • During course of day, interact with students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computer.
