Community Living Professional Short-Term Training

Community Living Professional is an advanced training certificate for direct care professionals.

This training certificate includes:

  • Core: Obtain basic knowledge and an introduction to the direct care profession. (6 hours)

  • Home and Community Living: Help individuals enhance or maintain their independence by accessing community supports and services and achieve personal goals. (13 hours)

  • Instrumental Activities of Daily Living: Learn how to assist individuals with daily living tasks to function independently in a home or community setting. (11 hours)

  • Personal Support: Learn how to provide support to individuals as they perform personal care activities of daily living. (9 hours)

  • Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers: Learn CPR skills for victims of all ages (including ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, and oxygen), use of an automated external defibrillator, and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction. (4 hours)

Who should enroll?

Individuals who work with or are interested in working with individuals with autism, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, and other developmental disabilities. You may work in group homes or adult day support centers.
