Fundamentals of Crew Leadership

Fundamentals of Crew Leadership is designed to support leadership training for front line construction leaders, such as crew leaders and foreman, to ensure their crews contribute safely and productively to active projects.

This course will cover National Center for Construction Education Research (NCCER) Fundamentals of Crew Leadership curriculum which provides training on:

  • Effective leadership skills and practical leadership applications, such as:
    • Scheduling
    • Workforce planning
    • Field reporting
    • Resource control
  • Modern leadership skills, such as:
    • Managing diverse crews
    • Addressing performance issues
    • Resolving conflict

Students will also spend time in our Introduction to Construction Trades class practicing leadership and oversight to build on their crew leadership skills.

Certification

The course is certified by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER), which is a nationally recognized provider of construction trades curriculum, assessments, and safety-conscious programming.

Who Should Enroll?

This program is designed for those working in the construction industry and are interested in a leadership position, such as a site supervisor or foreman.

Financial Assistance

This program is not eligible for Federal Financial Aid, but is approved for other sponsorships and assistance such as WE Build Waterloo and AmeriCorps Build Crew Member.

An AmeriCorps Build Crew Member has the opportunity to gain skills and experience while serving and impacting the community in addition to earning a living stipend and an education award.
