President Holcomb Named Top CEO by American Association of Community Colleges
Hawkeye Community College President Todd Holcomb, EdD, was one of four community college leaders recognized as top Chief Executive Officers by the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) at their annual conference. This national recognition highlights exceptional leadership in the community college sector and is awarded to presidents who exemplify excellence in governance, student success, and advocacy.
President Holcomb is recognized for a distinguished track record in advancing institutional effectiveness, championing professional development, and implementing innovative student success initiatives that deliver measurable outcomes. Under his leadership, Hawkeye Community College has developed new workforce training programs designed to increase access to education, worked to make college more affordable by advocating for state student financial aid programs geared toward high demand careers, and has led efforts to restore college enrollment to pre pandemic levels.
"Being recognized as a top CEO is an honor that reflects the outstanding work being done across our college every day," said President Holcomb. "It reflects the dedication of our faculty and staff to providing an education that is accessible, equitable, and empowering—and the commitment of our students to pursuing it."
The AACC recognition for CEOs is considered an esteemed honor for community college leaders, spotlighting individuals who show courage under pressure, represent their colleges on influential boards, and contribute to critical national conversations impacting two-year institutions. Individuals are chosen from a competitive pool of leaders across the country, with eligibility criteria excluding retiring CEOs or those from institutions represented on the AACC Board of Directors.
