A Lifetime of Connections

A Lifetime of Connections. Kenneth and Harold Bienfang

The impact of Kenneth and Harold Bienfang stretches well beyond the more than 30 years they taught welding at Hawkeye Community College. The brothers had a passion for their craft and spent a lifetime teaching 700+ students.

“It’s rare to find a welder trained in that era who didn’t learn from Kenny and Harold,” said Jeff Jantzen, Hawkeye welding instructor and a student of the Bienfangs. “I remember how much they cared—both about the work we were doing in class and about how we were doing as people.”

The Kenneth and Harold Bienfang Welding Scholarship fund was established with the Hawkeye Foundation to build on their legacy. The goal is to provide two $1,000 scholarships in Kenneth and Harold’s honor each year. Every donation makes a difference.

If you or someone you know was impacted by the Bienfangs’ lifetime of connections, please consider a gift to their scholarship endowment. Your gift will make a difference for our students! By investing in their education. You are investing in the future of our entire community.

I give to honor Kenny and Harold's legacy. I want to be the type of teacher they both were.

—Jeff Jantzen
