We will keep your application on file as long as you are attending Hawkeye and are consecutively registered for fall and spring semesters. You do not need to complete a new Hawkeye Scholarship application if you have been consecutively registered for fall and spring semesters.

Your Personal Statement

Include the following, if applicable, in your personal statement:

  1. Your academic and career goals.
  2. If you checked any of the "Other Criteria" in the section above include a description of how you meet the criteria.
  3. School and community involvement with an emphasis on active contributions to any club, association, or civic organization.
  4. Other scholarships and/or awards you have received.
  5. Leadership roles you have held.
  6. Volunteer or extra-curricular activities.
  7. Life and educational experiences that have motivated you or have demonstrated your ability to overcome obstacles and challenges successfully in order to continue your education.

Keep your essay to 1,000 words or less.

Scholarship selection is competitive. Be sure to review your personal statement carefully for sentence structure, capitalization, and punctuation. Your statement is used by the scholarship committee in determining the recipients of the scholarship awards.

  • I certify that the information on this application is correct and I authorize the Financial Aid office and Foundation office to release information to the scholarship committee.

  • I understand that all scholarships I may receive must be included as part of my financial aid award package.

  • I understand that depending on the amount of the scholarship(s) and financial aid need, subsidized Federal Direct Loan (and sometimes grant) eligibility may be revised.
