Y-Student Activities Coordinator

JOB SUMMARY:

This position assists in the everyday operations of Brock and upholds usage policies. Provides educational and social activities to the student population in an effort to promote student engagement in the college community and build and enhance relationships with other students, faculty, and staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develops and coordinates student activities programming 
  • Coordinates activities and events in the Brock Student Center.
  • Coordinates room reservations in the Student Center.
  • Oversees marketing and promotion of student activities
  • Oversees and maintains Student Activities website development
  • Coordinates the development and maintenance of student activity publications
  • Develops budget for student activities in collaboration with the Dean of Students
  • Develops and implements student activities and programming including educational, social, diversity, and multicultural events, fall/spring celebrations/family events, monthly awareness activities, etc.
  • Assists with graduation ceremony planning and event
  • In collaboration with the Dean of Students, hires, supervises and evaluates Student Activities staff.
  • Responsible for oversight of Student Leadership Council and serves as liaison to all campus clubs and organizations
  • Serves as College liaison with off-campus housing and bus transportation
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in leisure services, public relations, marketing, education, student services, health promotions or related field.
  • Knowledge of student development theory
  • Familiarity with commuter and/or community college populations
  • Demonstrates ability to supervise staff
  • Familiarity with budget development
  • Demonstrates ability to develop and maintain student activities
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrates ability to adapt and provide innovative approaches to student activities
  • Must be highly proficient using all Microsoft Office and/or Google programs.
  • Demonstrates ability to travel and work a flexible schedule, evenings and weekends.
  • Must possess strong human relation skills.

PREFERENCES:

  • Master’s degree
  • Working knowledge of Datatel
  • Experience managing staff and buildings

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:

Full-time position opening with a comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance; a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expense; holiday, personal, sick, and vacation leave; and a choice of retirement programs – IPERS (defined benefit) or TIAA (defined contribution).  Salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s education and experience.

Working conditions:  Requires skills for succeeding in an office environment, using technology.  Requires good hand-eye coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.

Work is performed in an office setting.  Sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours.  During course of day, interact with student, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computers.
