JOB SUMMARY:
This individual develops, articulates, and facilitates a shared vision through collaboration with faculty, staff, and administrators. Aligns and sustains strategic planning and priorities, program mission, philosophy, and program outcomes with the core values and mission/goals of the College.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Engages in creative programmatic development that fosters innovative pedagogies and technologies, including various instructional delivery methods.
- Assists with faculty recruitment, orientation, evaluation, and retention.
- Assigns and schedules courses to appropriate faculty members.
- Facilitates outreach and admission of new students.
- Facilitates student success, including monitoring admissions requirements, registration, instructional needs, and satisfactory academic progress.
- Oversees clinical sites and clinical instructors.
- Develops and manages budgets for the nursing programs.
- Implements a systematic plan to assure successful program demonstration in the following areas: performance on the licensure exam, program completion, graduate satisfaction, employer satisfaction, and job placement rates.
- Implements a systematic plan for evaluation of the nursing program to include student learning outcomes, program outcomes, role-specific graduate competencies, and State Board and accreditation standards.
- Provides systematic review of program effectiveness among didactic, laboratory, and clinical components.
- Directs the assessment, revision, and development of curricula while enhancing the integration of simulation and test prep systems throughout the programs.
- Assures standards to maintain program standing with the Iowa State Board of Nursing.
- Potential classroom teaching in area of expertise.
- Ensures compliance with nursing education accreditation bodies and regulatory agencies requirements, including annual program reports, website and published materials, periodic program self-study efforts, and preparation for site visits.
- Fosters collegial relationships with faculty, staff, students, and administrators.
- Effectively balances advocacy for the School with the needs of the College.
- Facilitates Nursing faculty meetings.
- Facilitates the Nursing Program Advisory Committee and participate on College Committees.
- Sound fiscal management and stewardship of complex budgets and resources.
- Exemplary teamwork and communication skills with supervisors, program faculty, the Advisory Committee, other divisions of the College, and the community.
- Provide leadership resulting in student engagement and success, faculty development, academic program accreditation, acquisition of external funding, community engagement and partnerships.
- Overall strategic and operational administration (including records, reports, resource and budget management) of the nursing programs.
- Overall responsibility and accountability for the academic quality, rigor, integrity, and currency of the programs.
- Oversight and management of faculty, curricula design, revision, and program assessment.
- Supervises the nursing clinical coordinator.
- Ensure the nursing program is focused on excellence regarding values, learning, leadership, and service.
- Cultivate and maintain a positive work environment in the School and College, including the promotion of an inclusive and respectful working environment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in nursing.
- Current unencumbered Iowa RN license or license-eligible in the State of Iowa.
- Two years’ experience as a nursing educator.
- Two years of clinical practice proficiency.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse campus community.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities in the areas of operations and management of an educational program including accreditation, personnel, and budgetary responsibilities.
- Curriculum development, program evaluation, and student learning assessment experience.
- Experience in the use of technology and alternative delivery formats, including computer-assisted delivery.
- Must have the knowledge and ability to apply teaching skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use motivational skills and engage students in the learning process.
- Must be adaptable to change and innovation.
- Knowledge of certification requirements and standards for hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, theories and methods for effective, innovative instruction.
- Demonstrated track record of collaboration and transformational leadership skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
PREFERENCES:
- Doctorate in Nursing or Education
- Experience with virtual simulation.
- Community College experience.
- Experience with competency-based or concept-based curriculum.
- Two years administrative experience.
- Familiarity with nursing accreditation (Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing - ACEN).
- Experience aligning curriculum to outcomes.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS:

Working conditions: Requires skills for succeeding in an office environment, using technology. Requires good hand-eye coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.
Work is performed in an office setting. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours. During course of day, interact with students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computer.
