JOB SUMMARY:
This position will staff the parts room in Butler Hall and assist students and faculty with parts securement and project billing. Assist with the preparation of teaching and lab materials for the students in lab classes. The successful candidate will be committed to promoting diversity and inclusion.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Maintains inventory on mechanical parts.
- Waits on customers.
- Assists and instructs students in daily tasks.
- Maintains records on inventory and issuance of parts and supplies.
- Sources quality parts from diverse vendors at reasonable prices.
- Picks up and returns parts and materials from/to local suppliers.
- Collects monies and issues receipts.
- Reviews recordkeeping activities of students, correcting errors and advising on proper procedures.
- Types purchase orders and other required documents.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years’ experience in mechanical part supply inventory or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license, insurable.
- Working knowledge of a variety of mechanical parts and supplies.
- Working knowledge of recordkeeping and inventory control.
- Working knowledge of partsroom procedures and practices.
- Ability to use parts catalogs and order parts needed (both paper/online).
- Ability to use multiple types of measuring devices.
- Working knowledge of tools.
- Ability to be Forklift certified.
- Ability to work with and provide customer service for diverse populations (staff, students, and general public).
- Project a positive professional image.
- Administrative writing skills, reporting skills, scheduling, Microsoft Office/Google applications skills, organization, time management, office equipment maintenance, and verbal communication skills.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS:
Part-time position averaging 29 hours per week mid-August through mid-May. Anticipated hours will be 7:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., four days per week, Monday through Thursday; and 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

Working conditions: Requires skills for succeeding in an office environment, using technology. Requires good hand-eye coordination including visual acuity to use a keyboard and read technical information; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.
Work is performed in an office setting. Sit, stand, bend, lift and move intermittently during working hours. During course of day, interact with students, faculty and staff in person, by telephone and computer.
