JOB SUMMARY:

This position assists in organizing special events such as career fairs and workshops. The successful candidate will be committed to promoting diversity and inclusion. Assists with advertising and marketing events through the use of PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word and other programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provides excellent customer service to prospective and current students, parents, and the general public.
  • Advises and helps prospective and current students with career readiness and decision making strategies.
  • Advises and helps students, alumni, and community members with resume writing and review, cover letters, and job search.
  • Researches current trends in hiring, employment, and career center best practices.
  • Assists with creative and innovative ways to connect employers and students.
  • Assists with creation and presentation of classroom visits and campus activities and events.
  • Builds relationships with College staff and faculty to facilitate career readiness across campus.
  • Assists in building and facilitating relationships with employers.
  • Assists with creating and editing informational handouts, resumes, and cover letters.
  • Monitors and audits department budget(s) in order to keep the Career Services Coordinator abreast of budget balance(s).
  • Assists with student outreach to collect survey data.
  • Assists with alumni outreach to collect employment survey data.
  • Compiles data from office records for incorporation into Graduate Career Report.
  • Uses online learning management system.
  • Assists in training and supervising student employees and student interns.
  • Assists students and employers by phone and in person with career services inquiries.
  • Maintains web and physical job board with updates.
  • Assists in review and update of Career Services pages on College website.
  • Performs data entry and approval of all online job board inquiries.
  • Performs other related professional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in higher education, human resources, business or related degree
  • One year of work experience involving academic advisement, career development, and employee relations
  • Demonstrated ability in strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of computer Microsoft and Google software applications and Internet search skills.
  • Ability to present information in front of multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of students, faculty, staff, and the general public.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team atmosphere.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision in a cooperative, contributive manner.
  • Ability to establish and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and at least one evening a week.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written directions.
  • Knowledge of recordkeeping principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Must project a positive professional image.
  • Thorough knowledge of the operations, functions, and scope of authority of the College as related to the handling and disposition of complaints, requests for information, and delegated administrative details.

PREFERENCES:

  • Master’s degree.

EMPLOYMENT STATUS:

Full time position with comprehensive benefits program including health, dental, vision, life, and LTD insurance, a Section 125 plan for medical and dependent care expenses; holiday, personal, sick, and vacation leave; and a choice of retirement programs—IPER (defined benefit) or TIAA (defined contribution). Anticipated work hours will be 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. four days per week and 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. one day per week (option of Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday) with periodic additional evenings.
